Phenylpropionate

Phenylpropionate is not a steroid but an ester that is attached to a number of various steroids. Most commonly the Phenylpropionate ester is attached to either Nandrolone or Testosterone, however we will rarely find a pure Testosterone- Phenylpropionate all on its own. Without question the most common Phenylpropionate steroid is that of Nandrolone- Phenylpropionate commonly referred to as Durabolin or NPP. In the NPP form you have a steroid with similar characteristics to that of Deca-Durabolin of varying time release principles. Beyond Durabolin the most common place we will find Phenylpropionate is in Sustanon-250 as part of this four ester based mixture of testosterone. Sustanon-250 carries with it a mixture of Testosterone-Propionate, Testosterone- Phenylpropionate, Testosterone- Isocaproate and Testosterone-Decanoate with 60mg of the total 250mg being that of Phenylpropionate.

As is with all esters, to understand them as they apply to the steroid in-which they are attached to we only need to understand the half-life that is associated and to a lesser degree the amount of mass the ester takes up in the total compound. The ester attached to a steroid affects the active duration of the steroid, the larger the ester the longer its effects and the smaller the ester the shorter its activity time will be. Further, generally smaller esters take up less mass and will provide a more potent milligram for milligram potency but this is often to a slight degree and is generally only worth mentioning in-terms of factual data rather than usable application.
The Phenylpropionate ester is a moderately small or short ester, possessing a half-life far shorter than longer esters such as Enanthate or Cypionate but larger and longer than esters such as Propionate. To give a point of reference, Nandrolone-Decanoate will carry with it a half-life of approximately fifteen days while the Phenylpropionate form of nandrolone will only possess a half-life of approximately 96-120 hours. For this reason, steroids with the Phenylpropionate ester attached will need to be administered more frequently than longer ester based steroids such as Decanoate or Enanthate. Most Durabolin users, as this is the most common Phenylpropionate based steroid will find injections every three days to be the minimal time frame while every 48 hours will prove to be far more efficient.
